CAPS Unlock invites you to a public lecture, “China’s Global Reach: New Methods to Understand China’s Expanding Presence.”

Speaker: Maria Adele Carrai, assistant professor of Global China Studies at NYU Shanghai. 

The lecture examines the concept of Global China and how scholars and practitioners can better grasp the scale and complexity of China’s expanding global presence. Carrai will begin by tracing the emergence of Global China as a concept and a field of study, before looking at the innovative ways of analyzing China’s engagements across economic, political, cultural, digital, and environmental dimensions. 

Drawing on the Mapping Global China project, the lecture will showcase new methods, ranging from spatial analysis to interactive mapping, that make China’s global footprint more visible and analytically accessible.
